director <strong>of</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>essional development services <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>Canadian</strong> Teachers’ Federation.<br />

Natasha Blanchet-Cohen is coordinator <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Unit <strong>for</strong><br />

Research and Education on <strong>the</strong> Convention on <strong>the</strong> <strong>Rights</strong><br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Child, University <strong>of</strong> Victoria. She has particular<br />

interest and expertise in indigenous children’s rights and<br />

community development issues.<br />

Ka<strong>the</strong>rine Covell is an associate pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> psychology<br />

and director <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Children</strong>’s <strong>Rights</strong> Centre at University<br />

College <strong>of</strong> Cape Breton. Her research and teaching is<br />

focused on <strong>the</strong> Convention, with a special emphasis on<br />

children’s rights education.<br />

Claudine Guindon is a secondary school student in<br />

Masson-Agers, Quebec. She has a particular interest in<br />

human rights and is a youth representative <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>Canadian</strong> <strong>Coalition</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>Rights</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Children</strong>.<br />

Alan Sears is associate dean, research and international<br />

development graduate program in <strong>the</strong> faculty <strong>of</strong> education<br />

at <strong>the</strong> University <strong>of</strong> New Brunswick. He is a specialist in<br />

citizenship education and has published widely in this area.<br />

Swee-Hin Toh is director <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Centre <strong>for</strong> International<br />

Education and Development and pr<strong>of</strong>essor <strong>of</strong> international<br />

and intercultural education at <strong>the</strong> University <strong>of</strong> Alberta.<br />

Since <strong>the</strong> 1970s, he has been active in <strong>the</strong> fields <strong>of</strong> peace,<br />

global and human rights education, as well as international<br />

educational development.<br />
