Yellow Angel Food<br />
One and a half cupful sugar sifted twice, 'yolks of<br />
4 eggs, 1 tablespoonful cold water, beat this ten<br />
minutes then add li2 cupful boiling water, IV2 cupful<br />
of flour sifted twice, Y2 teaspoonful cream of tartar,<br />
whites of 4 eggs beaten stiff, fold in. Bake in<br />
ungreased and unfloured pan 50 to 60 minutes in<br />
slow oven, leave in pan until cooL<br />

Angel Food Cake<br />
One and a half cupfuls sugar, 1 cup Swansdown<br />
cake flour, sift 8 times. Beat whites of 12 eggs until<br />
stiff. 1 teaspoonful cream of tartar, 1 teaspoonful<br />
vanilla, add eggs. Slowly add to flour. 11oderate<br />
oven.<br />

Angel Food Cake<br />
Eleven whites of eggs, 1 cupful Swansdown flour,<br />
1 level teaspoonful cream of tartar, 1 teasponnful<br />
vanilla, 1 Y2 cupfuls sugar, 1 pinch of salt, sift flour<br />
3 times, sift sugar 3 times. :Mix in order given, beat<br />
the whites stiff, gradually add sugar, next flour in<br />
which your Cl.'cam of tartar is sifted, add vanilla and<br />
salt. Dake in moderate oven nearly one hour. Turn<br />
upside down to cool. Do not grease your pan.<br />

Devils' Cake<br />
One cup white sugar, ~2 tablespoonful butter or<br />
lard, 1 egg, 1 cupful sour milk, 114 cupfuls flour, 1<br />
level teaspoonful soda, 2 squares bitter chocolate.<br />
Mix sugar and butter together then the egg, then<br />
melt the chocolate and add it, then sour milk and<br />
last the flour.<br />
