HOW TO SET A TABLE AND SERVE A MEAL<br />

Lay the silver straight, placing knives with sharp<br />

edges towards the plate; bowls of spoons and tines<br />

of forks should be turned up. All silver is laid in<br />

the order in which it is to be used, starting from the<br />

outside, forks at the left and knives and spoons at<br />

the right. Water glasses at the right of plate, bread<br />

and butter plates and napkins at the left. Carvers<br />

and silver for serving should be laid out on a side<br />

table to be placed on table as .needed. Also dessert<br />

plates.<br />

In serving, remember plates should be handed<br />

and removed from the right side. Dishes passed<br />

are offered at the left side.<br />

Never reach across in front of a person for any<br />

purpose.
