Edward <strong>Baynard</strong> died in 1575 271 . His will shows that he settled 400<br />
marks on his daughter Mary as her marriage portion “if she should<br />
hereafter marry with the assent of my wife[and named others]”<br />
However if she married without Elizabeth’s assent “ she shall have<br />
onlie two hundred marks” 272 .<br />
