<strong>The</strong> <strong>Baynard</strong>s of <strong>Lackham</strong><br />
It is possible that the 'cup of silver and silver gilt' which Edward<br />
bequeathed to Elizabeth is the same one but it is far from certain.<br />
It wasn't the only costly item he gave to her, she also received his<br />
'bason and ewer of silver parcelled gilt' 282<br />

It is very likely that the cup bequeathed to Robert <strong>Baynard</strong> is the<br />
famous “Lacock Chalice” which has been on loan to the British<br />
Museum for decades. <strong>The</strong> description (see footnote below) fits<br />
very well, and the church has always maintained that it was<br />
presented to them by a <strong>Baynard</strong>. Although the church chalice is “a<br />
