The strains at the bot<strong>to</strong>m <strong>of</strong> the HMA surface were measured by the pavement strain<br />

gauges at distances <strong>of</strong> 0, 12.5, 25, 50, <strong>and</strong> 75 cm away from the center as shown in figure 4.60.<br />

The bot<strong>to</strong>m <strong>of</strong> the HMA surface at the distances <strong>of</strong> 0, 12.5, 25, <strong>and</strong> 75 cm from the center was<br />

under compression. The bot<strong>to</strong>m <strong>of</strong> the HMA surface at the distance <strong>of</strong> 50 cm from the center was<br />

under tension up <strong>to</strong> 1,800 cycles <strong>and</strong> changed <strong>to</strong> compression up <strong>to</strong> the end <strong>of</strong> the test.<br />
