Summary: A one-sheet flyer that was distributed to all safety-sensitive employees<br />

with paychecks. The flyer notifies employees of <strong>the</strong> potential risks<br />

associated with <strong>the</strong> use of Rx <strong>and</strong> OTC medications by safety-sensitive<br />

employees, <strong>and</strong> informs <strong>the</strong>m of <strong>the</strong>ir responsibilities under <strong>the</strong> agency’s<br />

policy. The flyer also lists examples of Rx <strong>and</strong> OTC medications.<br />

Advantages: Is very brief <strong>and</strong> to <strong>the</strong> point. Raises awareness of <strong>the</strong> potential risks <strong>and</strong><br />

informs employees of <strong>the</strong>ir responsibilities.<br />

Disadvantages: Does not provide adequate explanation of <strong>the</strong> medications listed, why <strong>the</strong>y<br />

are listed, or what <strong>the</strong> employee is supposed to do with <strong>the</strong> information.<br />

Does not advise employees about how to be proactive <strong>and</strong> avoid problems<br />

<strong>and</strong> side effects associated with Rx/OTC use.
