6.2 Briefing Messages
6.2.1 Purpose
This procedure defines the purpose of Briefing Messages (BM) and the method of transmission to
the South Pole.
6.2.2 Participants
a. NCC.
b. South Pole.
6.2.3 Procedure
6.2.3.1 General
a. The BM is the method used by the NCC to provide supplemental information applicable
to a particular simulation or test activity. BMs are not used to update or change
documentation or to schedule SPTR resources.
b. Each BM identifies the type of activity to be supported, date and time of support,
participants, and designated point of contact. BMs are limited to information,
definitions, and/or procedures concerning a specific test or simulation. Refer to the
Spaceflight Tracking and Data Network Test and Simulation Support Plan, 530-NOP-
STDN/TS for more information.
6.2.3.2 Transmission
NOTE
Any questions concerning activities in a BM and/or schedule are
reported verbally to TM for further coordination with the
designated point of contact.
a. All BMs relevant to a test or simulation are originated by the NCC and are based upon
discussions between the NCC and the South Pole. Each is transmitted via e-mail after
approval by the originator.
b. The NCC transmits BMs to the South Pole as far in advance as possible of the scheduled
support period. Normally, the required BMs are transmitted at least 3 working days
before the scheduled activity.
