Figure 2.2 shows the temperature profile at the Solwara 1 prospect site during December 2005.<br />

From this figure, it is noted that the surface temperatures were greater than 30°C while<br />

temperatures at the bottom were approximately 3°C. The data in Figure 2.2 demonstrates that the<br />

water column in the Bismarck Sea is stable and layered since temperature decreases as depth<br />

below the water surface increases. Note also that the top of thermocline starts around 200 m.<br />
