The Gaziantep - Aleppo Cultural<br />
and Touristic Richness Project”,<br />
a project of the Deparment of<br />
Culture and Social Affairs at Gaziantep<br />
Metropolitan Municipality<br />
is expected to promote and pass<br />
<strong>for</strong>ward the friendship and peace<br />
from these cities past into future<br />
generations.<br />
This project has many goals which<br />
can be listed as follows: To bring<br />
out the cultural and touristic values,<br />
to determine the similarities<br />
between the cities’ past and present,<br />
to determine the course of<br />
actions which can benefit the development<br />
of both cities, to increase<br />
the standards of the products<br />
and the customer services<br />
by creating a competitive market,<br />
to educate and in<strong>for</strong>m the public<br />
by organizing festivals, seminars,<br />
exhibitions, symposiums, and cultural<br />
activities, and by preparing<br />
brochures, booklets and tourist<br />
guides, and hence to attract tourists<br />
into our region, to put emphasis<br />
on the terms “ Cultural Tourism”<br />
and “Faith Tourism”, to<br />
educate the people in tourism business<br />
to bring quality to every aspect<br />
of it and to increase the market<br />
share of tourism.<br />
This project will increase in<strong>for</strong>mation<br />
traffic between the cities,<br />
many new experiences will be achieved.<br />
With the reflections of<br />
common culture and history, cul-<br />
tural and touristic wealth of these<br />
places will gain a great value.<br />
Summing up, Gaziantep Metropolitan<br />
Municipality is pursuing Gaziantep<br />
- Aleppo Cultural and<br />
Touristic Richness Project within<br />
Turkey - Syria Inter-regional Cooperation<br />
Program with the help<br />
of local groups and organizations.<br />
It is targeting to have a great impact<br />
in Gaziantep’s and Turkey’s<br />
economical growth and publicity<br />
by promoting several activities<br />
such as Health Tourism, Culture<br />
Tourism, Plateau Tourism, Education<br />
Tourism, Shopping Tourism,<br />
and Food Tourism.<br />
Some of concrete outcomes of this<br />
project are the tour guide, brochures,<br />
CD and web page. These<br />
sources were prepared carefully to<br />
provide the most help to both domestic<br />
and <strong>for</strong>eign tourists. The<br />
tourist guide is translated into several<br />
languages, which are Turkish,<br />
Arabic, and English. It contains<br />
in<strong>for</strong>mation such as the history,<br />
cultural wealth, handicrafts,<br />
food culture, and transportation<br />
within.<br />
