including the publication of the exhibition
catalogue.
In this address at the opening of the exhibition
in Bucharest Dr V. Karageorghis underlined
the fact that Romania has strong ties
with the history of Hellenism. "If we search
the ancient past", he added, "we will trace
many similarities between the culture of Romania
and that of the Eastern Mediterranean.
This will no doubt become apparent when,
hopefully, the offer of the Leventis Foundation
to create a special gallery in the National
Museum will materialise within the next
year or two", he concluded. The event was
widely covered by the Romanian newspapers
and television.
