Warren, an English colonial officer who<br />

served in Cyprus and had somehow acquired<br />

antiquities from Ohnefalsch-Richter’s excavations<br />

at Tamassos. The last acquisition<br />

of the museum came in 1962 from the Dowager<br />

Lady Loch from London, a former<br />

resident of Kyrenia who had family connections<br />

in Canada.<br />

Dr Vassos Karageorghis, Director of the A.G.<br />

Leventis Foundation, was familiar with<br />

the Cypriote collections existing in the Royal<br />

Ontario Museum from his various visits.<br />

He started investigating the possibility<br />

of creating a permanent Gallery in the Royal<br />

Ontario Museum and the proposal he<br />

made to the director of the museum on behalf<br />

of the A.G. Leventis Foundation was promptly<br />

accepted. On three subsequent visits he<br />

collaborated with members of the museum<br />

staff for the implementation of the project,<br />

examining, selecting, photographing<br />

and treating the artefacts in the conserva-
