Warren, an English colonial officer who
served in Cyprus and had somehow acquired
antiquities from Ohnefalsch-Richter’s excavations
at Tamassos. The last acquisition
of the museum came in 1962 from the Dowager
Lady Loch from London, a former
resident of Kyrenia who had family connections
in Canada.
Dr Vassos Karageorghis, Director of the A.G.
Leventis Foundation, was familiar with
the Cypriote collections existing in the Royal
Ontario Museum from his various visits.
He started investigating the possibility
of creating a permanent Gallery in the Royal
Ontario Museum and the proposal he
made to the director of the museum on behalf
of the A.G. Leventis Foundation was promptly
accepted. On three subsequent visits he
collaborated with members of the museum
staff for the implementation of the project,
examining, selecting, photographing
and treating the artefacts in the conserva-
