Coussapoa dolichandra Cuatrecasas Caldasia 7: 287. 1956-based on collection Cuatrecasas 17458 (Colombia, Valle: Rio Cajambre, 5-15 May 1944 (holotype and isotype, F)-consists 109 of discordant elements: staminate inflorescences of a Coussapoa species and leafy twigs of some species not belonging to the Urticales, but possibly to the Lauraceae. The latter parts constitute the lectotype, chosen here. Coussapoa emarginata Killip in Macbride, Publ. Field Mus. Bot. 13(2.2): 296. 1937 = Pourou- ma minor Benoist.

It is a welldefined genus of small to medium-sized trees of the rain forest areas of South and Central America, and has not drawn much attention, except that the fruits of P. cecropiifolia are suitable for boles de Caracas, ed. 2 (Monogr. 24.
