Extrusion is the most common method of producing common solid models. It forms<br />

the basics of simple and complex parts of various shapes and sizes. As a first step, a<br />

two dimensional model is created of the object whose 3D model is desired. Once this<br />

is ready, the model is then extruded in the direction and to the width as required.<br />

Taper along the linear direction can also be accommodated. Any variations in<br />

direction different to direction of the standard possible extrusion would be difficult to<br />

create. A sample extrusion is shown in fig 2.4 below.<br />

Sweeping with the help of a guide curve is a feature similar to extrusion as it allows<br />

an object to be extruded in different forms as long as there are guide curves which<br />

act as boundaries and guidelines as extent to which the material is extruded. A<br />

sample sweep is shown in fig 2.5 below.<br />
