At the top of the syringe casing is an acrylic board on which the syringe stepper<br />

motor is mounted. The stepper motor is used for controlling the position of the<br />

syringe piston, which is the main reason for material flow. The body is then put<br />

together with the acrylic cut sheets available. This is done by fastening the sheets<br />

together with screws and nuts. A 10cc syringe barrel and tip from Nordson, EFD is<br />

used to be placed in this deposition head. The stepper motor is inserted with a lead<br />

screw at the end of which is a shaft collar and shoulder screw. This lead screw is<br />

driven by the motor which in turn pushes the material out the nozzle tip at the end of<br />

the syringe barrel.<br />

3.2.2 Assembling the chassis<br />

The chassis is the most important feature of the Fab at home machine, as it is the<br />

body and it contains a mixture of several sub assemblies:<br />
