CONTROL COMMANDS<br />

This section contains eMS commands that are used to control<br />

the user·s environment at the console.<br />

The BLIP command changes the character used to notify the<br />

user of every two CPU seconds of execution time. The<br />

CHARDEF command allows the user to redefine the logical<br />

characters, such as the character delete, line delete,<br />

logical backspace, and logical tab characters. LINEND<br />

redefines the logical carriage return or line-end character.<br />

SYN allows a user to define his own synonyms for commands.<br />

CPFUNCTN allows CP console functions to be issued from CMS.<br />

IPL loads a new copy of CMS into memory. KO, KT, and KX are<br />

used to kill overrides, typing, and execution respectively.<br />

RT restores typing once it has been terminated by KT. LOGIN<br />

sets up the user's permanent files for this terminal<br />

session; LOGOUT updates the files on the P-disk and removes<br />

the user from CMS; and RELEASE frees a disk when the user<br />

has finished with it.<br />
