The wicked is driven away in his wickedness, but
the righteous hath hope in his death.
The hope of heaven our spirits cheer
No more we grieve for sorrows past,
Nor any future conflict fear,
So we may safe arrive at last.
O Lord, on thee our hopes we stay
To lead us on to thine abode,
Assured thy love will far o'erpay
The hardest labors of the road.
Though I speak with the tongues of men and of
angels, and have not charity, I am become as sound-
ing brass and a tinkling cymbal.
Though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor,
and give my body to be burned, and have not char-
ity, it profiteth me nothing.
Charity suffereth long, and is kind.
Charity envieth not.
Charity vaunteth not itself—is not puffed up.
Charity never faileth.
Blest is the man whose softenirg heart
Feels all another's pain,
To whom the supplicating eye
Is never turned in vain.
