The number five in this degree, my brother, has<br />

many allusions, some of which have already been ex-<br />

plained to you ; it is also to remind us of the five<br />

point« of fellowship : that we are to go on a brother's<br />

errand or to his relief, even barefoot and upon flinty<br />

ground ; to remember him in our supplications to<br />

the Deity ; to clasp him to our heart and protect<br />

him against misfortune and slander ; to uphold him<br />

when about to stumble and fall ; and to give him<br />

prudent, honest, and friendly counsel. Such are the<br />

duties you are especially to observe and to teach to<br />

others, for they a?e the first ordinances of Masonrv.<br />
