Fire Training<br />
Gloucester County Fire Academy (GCFA)<br />
Firefighter I<br />
Prerequisites: Students must be 18 years of age; a member of a fire company, department<br />
or brigade; provide proof of enrollment in the organization’s respiratory protection<br />
program; and be prepared to demonstrate proof of physical fitness. Students must be<br />
equipped with gear that meets ALL applicable standards and regulations.<br />
*Note: Students must complete: I-100, I-700 and CPR and provide proof by end of semester.<br />
This course follows the National Fire Protection Standard 1001 and the New Jersey<br />
certified curriculum. Topics include: fire chemistry, fire ground safety, SCBA, ladders,<br />
search and rescue, communications, ventilation, fire suppression, HAZMAT Level I<br />
Awareness and Level 2 Operations, hazard communication, NJRTK, confined space<br />
awareness and bloodborne pathogens.<br />

The Gloucester County Fire Academy is able to assist area businesses and organizations<br />

Customized fire-safety training is available both at the academy and off-site at industries<br />
and emergency services organizations. The Gloucester County Fire Academy is located in<br />
Clarksboro, NJ. In addition to classroom instruction, the facility also offers a burn<br />
building, full-sized aircraft replica and ranch-style smokehouse.<br />

OSHA 8-hour HAZWHOPER<br />
Refresher<br />
The 8-hour refresher course meets the<br />
requirements outlined in OSHA 29 CFR<br />
1919.120 for 8 (eight) hours of annual<br />
refresher training for workers at<br />
hazardous waste sites. This course is<br />
designed for general site workers who<br />
remove hazardous waste or who are<br />
exposed or potentially exposed to<br />
hazardous substances of health hazards.<br />

OSHA 10-hour Construction<br />
The 10-hour Construction Industry<br />
Outreach Training Program is intended<br />
to provide entry-level construction<br />
workers general awareness on<br />
recognizing and preventing hazards<br />
on a construction site. This course is<br />
designed for construction workers as<br />
an ideal orientation to those who are<br />
new to the industry and as a reminder<br />
to those who have been working in the<br />
industry to the hazard associated with<br />
their work.<br />

The 10-hour General Industry Outreach<br />
Training Course is intended to provide<br />
entry-level general industry workers<br />
broad awareness on recognizing and<br />
preventing hazards on a general<br />
industry site. Students will be<br />
introduced to OSHA policies,<br />
procedures and standards as well<br />
as general industry safety and health<br />
principles covered in OSHA Act part<br />
1910. Special emphasis will be placed<br />
on areas most hazardous using OSHA<br />
standards as a guide.<br />
