Ocular Inflammatory Diseases
Dr. Levinson’s research interest is ocular inflammatory
diseases. He is the primary investigator on international
research projects in both the clinical aspects of uveitis
and the basic mechanisms and immunogenetics of
ocular inflammation. Current projects include a collaborative
longitudinal study of a chronic inflammatory
disease, birdshot chorioretinopathy, with investigators in
France. The study focuses on the interrelationship of
disease factors, as well as the course of disease and
response to treatment.
Dr. Levinson is also studying the genetic components of
the several forms of ocular inflammation in collaboration
with investigators in the United States, France, Mexico,
and Japan.
