<strong>BNP</strong> <strong>Paribas</strong> Personal Investors offers independent fi nancial advice and a wide range of investment services<br />

across multiple distribution channels to high net worth individuals. This business line brings together three<br />

major players in the private investment fi eld:<br />

Cortal Consors is the leading personal investment and online brokerage fi rm in Europe, providing personalised<br />

investment advice and online trading services in fi ve European countries – Germany, France, Spain, Belgium<br />

and Luxembourg. Cortal Consors offers clients its investment advisory experience through several channels<br />

– online, telephone or face to face. It offers a broad range of independent products and services including<br />

short-term investment solutions, mutual funds and life insurance products, backed by leading-edge online<br />

brokerage technologies;<br />

B*capital, a brokerage fi rm, specialises in personalised advice on securities and derivatives as well as<br />

discretionary management for high net worth clients. It offers its clients direct access to all markets, fi nancial<br />

analysis, personalised portfolio advisory and portfolio management services;<br />

Geojit is one of the leading retail brokers in India. It offers brokerage services for equities, derivatives and<br />

commodities as well as fi nancial savings products, mainly to private individuals. Geojit also operates in the<br />

United Arab Emirates where it targets a non-resident Indian clientele. <strong>BNP</strong> <strong>Paribas</strong> is its main shareholder.<br />

At 31 December 2007, <strong>BNP</strong> <strong>Paribas</strong> Personal Investors had 1.56 million clients<br />

and EUR 32.2 billion worth of managed assets, with 37% in equities, 43% in<br />

savings products or mutual funds and 20% in cash. <strong>BNP</strong> <strong>Paribas</strong> Personal<br />

Investors employs 4,147 people.<br />

The goal of <strong>BNP</strong> <strong>Paribas</strong> Personal Investors is to be a leading broker in personal<br />

investment and online trading services in Europe and in international markets<br />

that offer strong savings potential, such as emerging markets.<br />

Strategic development<br />

<strong>BNP</strong> <strong>Paribas</strong> took a 27.18% stake in Geojit Financial Services Ltd and became<br />

its main shareholder.<br />

<strong>BNP</strong> <strong>Paribas</strong> Personal Investors, the new business line within AMS, was created<br />

and includes Cortal Consors, B*capital and Geojit.<br />

Cortal Consors Germany bought the Financescout24 advisory network and<br />

doubled the number of mobile advisers from 80 to 160. This acquisition<br />

strengthens the multi-channel strategy of Cortal Consors in Germany and<br />

meets clients’ need for independent investment advice.<br />

Cortal Consors Germany opened 15 new locations for its advisory unit Cortal<br />

Consors Select, which now has 21 offi ces throughout Germany.<br />

The Singapore Expatriates Desk offers investment services to European<br />

expatriates in Asia with the support of Cortal Consors Luxembourg.<br />

Geojit and <strong>BNP</strong> <strong>Paribas</strong> Securities Asia signed a joint venture to serve institutional<br />

clients.<br />

Geojit obtained a licence to operate in Saudi Arabia through a joint venture<br />

Aloula Geojit Brokerage.<br />

Geojit and Bank of Bahrain signed a partnership agreement to provide Indian<br />

brokerage services and mutual funds to Indian nationals residing in Bahrain.
