Lecture 1 hour. Laboratory 2 hours. PREREQUISITE: Music 314 with a satisfactory grade or equivalent. The student<br />

studies, practices, and performs level one intermediate piano repertoire from the Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and<br />

Twentieth Century periods selected by the instructor. Repertoire to include the equivalent of Bach inventions, Diabelli<br />

sonatinas, Schumann Kinderszenen, and Kabalevsky Op. 27. Technique to include the equivalent of Hanon 60 exercises<br />

#1-19, Czerny Op. 100 #10-20, and all melodic minor scales in four octaves with cadences. Public performances are<br />

required. For the piano student who has studied for two or more years of private or class piano. (If prerequisite is not met,<br />

This course concentrates on basic fundamentals of singing, using vocal exercises and simple songs. Emphasis is placed on<br />

developing an understanding of the singing voice, the body as a musical instrument, and the vocal potential of each student.<br />
