Normal mode<br />

Switch ignition ON.<br />

Bridge data link connector (DLC) terminals El and TEI (T).<br />

+1992: 0. 1992 +: 0.<br />

If no trouble codes are stored, the lamp will flash twice per<br />

second O.<br />

Each trouble code consists of two groups of one or more<br />

flashes rn [A].<br />

Warning lamp flash duration: 0,5 second rn [B].<br />

A 0,5 second pause separates each flash rn [c].<br />

A 1,5 second pause separates each trouble code group rn [Dl.<br />

A 2,5 second pause separates each trouble code El [El.<br />

For example: Two 0,5 second flashes - 1,5 second pause -<br />

one 0,5 second flash. <strong>Trouble</strong> code 21 displayed rn -<br />

heated oxygen sensor (H02S).<br />

<strong>Trouble</strong> codes are repeated 4,5 seconds after last trouble<br />

code.<br />

Count MIL flashes. Note trouble codes. Compare with<br />

trouble code table.<br />

Remove bridge wire.<br />

Switch ignition OFF.<br />

Rectify faults as necessary.<br />

Switch ignition OFF.<br />

Bridge data link connector (DLC) terminals El and TE2 0.<br />

Switch ignition ON.<br />

Ensure malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) flashes four times<br />

per second.<br />

Start engine.<br />

Drive vehicle at over 6 mph (10 kmlh) to meet conditions of<br />

customer complaint.<br />

Stop vehicle. Do not switch ignition OFF.<br />

With data link connector (DLC) terminals El and TE2<br />

bridged, bridge terminals El and TEI 0.<br />

Count MIL flashes. Note trouble codes. Compare with<br />

trouble code table.<br />

Switch ignition OFF.<br />

Remove bridge wires.<br />

Rectify faults as necessary.<br />

NOTE: Codes 42 and 43 may be produced if this procedure is<br />

NOT carried out correctly. Code 51 will be produced<br />

during this procedure and can be ignored.<br />

Erasing<br />

NOTE: Fuse removal duration depends on ambient temperature.<br />

The lower the temperature the longer the fuse must be<br />

removed.<br />

Switch ignition OFF.<br />

1984-92: Remove STOP fuse (1 5A) from fascia fusebox for<br />

10 seconds minimum. 1984-87: m. 1987-92: m.<br />

1992-97: Remove EFI fuse (1 5A) from underbonnet fusebox<br />

for 10 seconds minimum m.<br />

1997-00: Remove EFIIF-HTR fuse (1 5A) from underbonnet<br />

fusebox for 10 seconds minimum m.<br />

Refit fuse.<br />

<strong>Trouble</strong> codes may also be erased by disconnecting battery<br />

leads.<br />

WARNING: Disconnecting battery may erase memory from<br />

electronic units (e.g. radio, clock).<br />

Repeat checking procedure to ensure no data remains in<br />

ECM fault memory.<br />
