Vt., May 14. 1788. He died about 1833. After<br />

7 the death of Mrs. Ballard, he with his family removed to<br />

1. Alfred, b. July 3. 1798: was a lieutenant in the Uuited States,<br />

army in 181 5; was shot while crossing the river at Lewiston in the boat<br />

of which he was in command.<br />

Xew York City, Feb. 16,<br />

1879, was buried in Castleton. Vt., where her parents had<br />

lived since her childhood. They having moved there from<br />

Pultney; she was the daughter of Judge of Probate. Almon<br />

Warner, whose wife was Mary Conkney. They were mar-<br />

ried at O swell, Vt.. Dec. 7, 1819. He held the office of<br />

probate judge, thirty-three (33) successive years and died in<br />

the office. Mary's brother, James Almon Warner was born<br />

Aug. 31, 1824. while a young man went to Little Rock. Ark.,<br />

where for many years he edited a leading newspaper. He<br />

stood very high among the people, being a man of brilliant<br />

mind and a fine writer. He died in the south during the<br />

Civil war. The next was Joseph, a physician at Port Henry,<br />

N. Y. He was for many years located at Bridgeport, Vt.<br />

Almon Warner and wife died at Castleton, Vt, within a year<br />

of each other, about 1862. Henry <strong>Rathbone</strong>. when a young<br />

man went to Xew York City, where he was engaged in the<br />
