Elizabeth (Scheeler) Sturdevent; they came from Germany;
she died : ; his father, Ashel is still living.- 1897. S2
years old. Melvin left Ohio in a wagon train and went west
through the Rocky mountains, arriving at Denver, Colo.,
May 23, i860. He followed mining for sixteen years, having
lips and downs, but never got rich. He went back to
Denver to live. In 1879 he went to Trinidad, Colo., in the
interest of the sugar manufacturing company, where he was
agent of a branch office for several years and afterwards going
to Xew Mexico in the same business. He was a resident
of Colorado and Xew Mexico for thirty-seven years. Children:
