CIAS serves over 20 airlines at<br />

<strong>Emirates</strong> Leisure Retail opened Deli Express in Mall of the <strong>Emirates</strong>, Dubai<br />
Dnata Travel Kuwait was formally launched<br />
in October <strong>2008</strong>; Dnata Travel Qatar was<br />
appointed HRG partner and expanded its<br />
footprint through its Al Tawfeeq Travels joint<br />
venture and Dnata Travel opened an outlet in<br />
the new Bahrain City Centre. Dnata Afghanistan<br />
became the first internationally-recognised<br />
one-stop travel shop in Kabul through its Najm<br />
Travel joint venture and Dnata Travel Abu Dhabi<br />
registered a phenomenal growth in its customer<br />
base of more than 200 per cent and won awards<br />
from KLM Dutch Airlines and Qatar Airways.<br />
The co-branded NBD-Dnata credit card also won<br />
the Best Marketing Campaign from MasterCard<br />
Worldwide.<br />
International Airport Handling<br />
Changi International Airport Services (CIAS)<br />
provides ground handling and inflight<br />
catering services to over 20 airlines at Changi<br />
International Airport in Singapore. Despite<br />
difficult market conditions, CIAS was successful<br />
in winning several new airline customers<br />
including Jetstar, Sriwijaya Airlines, Shenzhen<br />
Air and Orient Thai, whilst renewing contracts<br />
with several key customers reflecting the<br />
continued focus on achieving superior service<br />
levels.<br />
Cargo volumes declined by 12 per cent to<br />
310,000 tonnes, mirroring the worldwide<br />
downturn in freight volumes in the second<br />
half of the year. Despite this, the business still<br />
handled 18,400 flights, representing an eight<br />
per cent increase on the previous year.<br />
CIAS also holds a 20 per cent share in<br />
Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport<br />
Handling Services Company (GAHCO) which<br />
provides handling services at Guangzhou<br />
Baiyun International Airport in China.<br />
GAHCO’s business volumes continued to grow<br />
significantly during the year.<br />
In the first full year of operation of the joint<br />
venture X’ian Dnata Airport Services (XDAS), at<br />
X’ian Xianyang International Airport in China,<br />
41,000 flights were handled.
