EmQuest<br />

EmQuest is a travel distribution <strong>com</strong>pany that<br />

manages a large network of brands, content, and<br />

service offerings that are designed to meet the<br />

unique and specific needs of the travel industry,<br />

especially those based in the Middle East region.<br />

Its core business is providing electronic global<br />

and regional distribution services for the travel<br />

industry through its <strong>com</strong>puterised reservation<br />

systems, leading-edge products and internetbased<br />

solutions.<br />

The contract to distribute Galileo GDS across the<br />

Middle East ended in <strong>2008</strong>. From 1st January,<br />

EmQuest began providing Sabre solutions in the<br />

UAE, and launched distribution services in five<br />

new African markets including South Africa,<br />

Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.<br />

The new arrangement with the Sabre Travel<br />

Network opens many opportunities for EmQuest<br />

for the market expansion of new products.<br />

The challenge of the migration from Galileo to<br />

Sabre was managed successfully by reinforcing<br />

training and seconding additional resources<br />

from Sabre support centres in Dallas and<br />

Montevideo as floor walkers to ensure onsite<br />

performance.<br />

Going forward, EmQuest will develop a<br />

platform that can connect travel agents,<br />

tour operators, car rental <strong>com</strong>panies, hotels<br />

and airlines (including low-cost carriers) with<br />

millions of travellers around the world – easily,<br />

effortlessly, and efficiently.<br />

MMI<br />

MMI achieved a 20 per cent revenue growth in<br />

the year and has strengthened its position as<br />

the leading distributor of licenced beverages in<br />

the UAE, representing seven out of the world’s<br />

ten leading principals in its chosen beverage<br />

categories.<br />

Its retail business has also grown strongly,<br />

recording a 28 per cent revenue increase.<br />

The <strong>com</strong>pany was particularly proud to open<br />

Le Clos the fine wine cellar at the new <strong>Emirates</strong><br />

Terminal 3 at Dubai International airport,<br />

probably the most unique shopping experience<br />

in its category in any airport in the world today.<br />

There are two outlets in Terminal 3 – one located<br />

on the concourse level, open to all passengers<br />

and the other situated in the <strong>Emirates</strong> First<br />

Class Lounge, available for the exclusive use of<br />

<strong>Emirates</strong> First Class passengers.<br />

MMI has also enjoyed strong growth and<br />

success in its investment activities in Oman and<br />

Abu Dhabi. Its joint venture Sirocco has also<br />

experienced a solid increase, driven by product<br />

innovations and introduction of new products<br />

into the market. MMI has also established a joint<br />

venture in East Africa.<br />
