Information and Management Systems
PI-PCS 7 integration
■ Function
Interfaces
PI-PCS 7 Interface
The PI-PCS 7 Interface reads the process variables cyclically
from SIMATIC PCS 7 and saves them in the PI long-term archive.
The PI-PCS 7 Interface is operated on an Interface PC on the
OS-LAN of the SIMATIC PCS 7 process control system and uses
the @PCS 7 server functionality of this system. Other features are
Archive Recovery and Failover Online.
PI-PCS 7 Interface Alarm
The PI-PCS 7 Interface Alarm stores messages from the operator
station in the PI long-term archive. The messages are assembled
from the OS message archive and saved in the PI long-term
archive as text with a time stamp. These messages can be combined
with other process values or batch data in the PI system
using the time stamp, e.g. in order to generate reports that meet
specific legal requirements.
The PI-PCS 7 integration is the standard solution for linking the
PI system from OSIsoft to the SIMATIC PCS 7 process control PI-PCS 7 Interface Batch
system.
The PI-PCS 7 Interface Batch stores data from SIMATIC BATCH
The PI-PCS 7 integration comprises various interfaces and tools in the PI long-term archive. In connection with the PI-PCS 7 In-
that can be used as required. The tools simplify the configuration terface this means that reports and evaluations based on batch
or represent trends from the PI system on the operator station. data and process values can also be in implemented in the PI
system. Other features include support of the manual operating
The PCS 7 data is forwarded via interfaces to the archive of the
mode, archive recovery or an Excel add-in for reports.
PI server for long-term storage. The data in the long term archive
of the PI server is available for evaluation and further processing Tools
regardless of the process control system.
PI-WinCC Trend Control
PI-PCS 7 Integration supports the redundancy concept of
SIMATIC PCS 7 multi-user server systems.
PI-WinCC Trend Control, with the aid of the standard WinCC x/y
trends, represents values from a PI data archive instead of from
a WinCC archive. This enables additional process values to be
displayed on the PCS 7-OS Client.
Display features:
• Up to 8 configurable graphs
• Values can be presented individually or jointly on various time
axes
• Online updating of the graphs
• Zoom functions
PI tag Configuration Tool
The PI tag Configuration Tool simplifies the configuration of PI
tags on the basis of the configured PCS 7 variables. The PCS 7
variable budget which can be limited by means of filters is automatically
read out and configured in the PI system, so that transmission
errors or inconsistencies are avoided. By means of delta
runs the respective current status of the PCS 7 configuration is
updated in the PI system.
