■ Overview<br />
Fuzzy-Control++ is a Siemens configuration tool for fuzzy logic.<br />
It offers solutions for non-linear controllers and for predicting behavior<br />
of complex mathematical procedures from the process<br />
automation which are difficult or impossible to implement using<br />
standard tools.<br />
Fuzzy-Control++ enables fuzzy systems to be developed and<br />
configured effectively for the automation of technical processes.<br />
Empirical process knowledge and verbally described experience<br />
can be implemented directly in open and closed loop controls,<br />
pattern recognition, decision logic etc.<br />
■ Application<br />
Typical applications for fuzzy logic are:<br />
• Open and closed-loop control<br />
• Parameter adaptation of controllers<br />
• Fault compensation and precontrol<br />
• Pattern recognition, process data evaluation and diagnosis<br />
• Automation of manual process interventions of a plant operator<br />
• Process control with coordination of subordinate open and<br />
closed loop controllers<br />
Examples include pressure, temperature and levels, as well as<br />
control of speed and intervals. In early warning and diagnostic<br />
systems, fuzzy logic is used for the early detection of hazardous<br />
states and for the implementation of decision-making logic.<br />
■ Function<br />
The Fuzzy-Control++ configuration tool supports the user when<br />
creating a fuzzy system. The application of this system requires<br />
only basic knowledge about such systems, as no mathematical<br />
or control settings have to be made. The user is supported during<br />
the configuration process by extensive online help.<br />
The configuration tool package comprises:<br />
• a configuration tool (running under the Windows 2000 and<br />
Windows XP operating systems),<br />
• the runtime software for SIMATIC <strong>PCS</strong> 7 (function block for<br />
CFC and OS faceplate ).<br />
With the configuration tool, the fuzzy systems are configured and<br />
generated. In continuous operation, the runtime software then<br />
processes the systems that are found in a data block in the case<br />
of SIMATIC <strong>PCS</strong> 7.<br />
