By default, the terminal lines on the system are not configured and you must configure the privilege and<br />

user access. You configure the terminal lines on the system by entering the LINE mode for each type of<br />

terminal connection.<br />

To enter the LINE mode to configure a terminal connection, use one of the following commands in the<br />

CONFIGURATION mode:<br />

Command Syntax Command Mode Purpose<br />

line aux 0 CONFIGURATION Enter the LINE mode to configure an auxiliary<br />

terminal line.<br />

line console 0 CONFIGURATION Enter the LINE mode for the console port.<br />

line vty number [end-number] CONFIGURATION Enter the LINE mode to configure virtual<br />

terminals. FTOS supports up to 10 virtual<br />

terminals for Telnet sessions. Specify a number<br />

from 0 to 9 for the virtual terminal.<br />

To configure multiple virtual terminals, enter an<br />

end number. For example, to enter and<br />

configure virtual terminals 0 through 3, enter<br />

line vty 0 3.<br />

To view the current configuration for the terminal connection, enter show config in the LINE mode.<br />

Figure 39 shows the configuration for three virtual terminal lines.<br />
