and terrorism continues to be the most
challenging and thankless task, CRPF
has enjoyed the highest credibility
and utmost confidence of the nation.
There are many factors which make it
possible for the CRPF to be considered
the most dependable and credible
internal security force of the nation.
The Force is on the move all the time
between various difficult theatres
of operation in this vast country.
Companies are moved constantly by
air, train and road to different States
with varying climatic conditions and
vastly differing security challenges.
The Force has suffered and continue
to suffer considerable supreme
sacrifice of valuable lives. The supreme
sacrifice made by CRPF personnel
is unparalleled. Many more sustain
injuries, including disabilities in the
performance of their duties.
The Force, with utmost adaptability
is in great demand from all parts of
the country and from governments
run by various political parties. It
is all due to its political neutrality,
secularism, dedication, human rights
consciousness, good behaviour and
effectiveness in dealing with various
situations.
They are called upon to deal with
extremism, communal violence,
insurgency and terrorism in various
theatres. They fought shoulder to
shoulder with the army in the wars with
Pakistan and China. They performed
admirably in Srilanka as part of the IPKF
along with Indian Army. They provided
security to the Amarnath Yatris,
security during various elections, relief
and rehabilitation during earthquakes,
cyclones, floods and other natural
calamities and also provided protection
to high security VVIPs in the nation.
PROUD HUMAN RIGHTS RECORD
Despite performing highly risky tasks
in hostile conditions and suffering loss
of life all the time and being away from
their families for months together, the
Force has shown tremendous restraint
while dealing with the public. The
human rights record of the Force has
throughout been commendable. Odd
violations here and there are promptly
noticed and effective corrective action
taken by senior officers.
With vast experience in dealing with
various situations, the entire force is
fully aware that their effectiveness
and success in dealing with various
situations will depend largely on the
cooperation and respect that the Force
is able to command from the local
population. Efforts are on all the time
in sensitizing the Force at different
levels on finer aspects of human rights
and human rights laws.
A fine tradition is also built into the
Force of serving the society in all
possible ways. The Force has been
undertaking blood donation from
time to time showing concern for
their fellow-beings in distress. Intense
Civic Action Programme of the CRPF
has shown its human face. Similarly,
conscious effort has been made
throughout to plant and raise trees as
a contribution towards improvement
of the environment and atmosphere in
which we live. All the CRPF campuses
are like mini forests.
