Sh. Pranay Sahay, an IPS officer
of 1975 batch of Tripura side of
Manipur – Tripura cadre has assumed
the charge of Director General of
CRPF on 18 th October, 2012. He was
accorded a ceremonial ‘Guard of
Honour’ at the CRPF HQ, Lodhi Road,
New Delhi.
Sh. Sahay, an illustrious police
officer, is primarily responsible for
containment and marginalization of
insurgency in Tripura and has worked
there for over two decades. He came
in for special commendation from
the Election Commission of India
for his clarity, skill and professional
competence in handling all election
related matters in an insurgency
charged environment. He has
served as Chief Vigilance Officer in
Hindustan Zinc Ltd. and in various
capacities in Central Armed Police
Forces, including ADG North Zone in
CRPF from December 2007 to July,
2008. He has been decorated with
Police Medal for Meritorious Service
in 1992 and President’s Police Medal
for Distinguished Service in 1998.
