TRAINING AND TRADITION
Health and fitness is given utmost
importance as it is only when the
personnel are healthy physically, they
will be healthy mentally also. Only
healthy and fit people can have the
courage to act and also will have the
ability to work hard for long hours
without getting fatigue. Only then
sound and bold decisions can be
arrived at.
Training has been given the utmost
importance in the Force. The training
institutions, the syllabus and the
methodology are constantly reviewed
and improved upon.
The orientation is towards improving
basic skills and aptitudes and
professionalism in performance,
whatever be the nature of duty. The
effort is to expand mental horizon,
attain professional excellence and
individual skills and more practical
orientation to meet the present
day constantly evolving operational
challenges.
The Training methods have kept
in view that the role of the Force
demands both offensive action against
insurgents, terrorists and extremists,
while at the same time ensuring
adequate sensitivity to public order
and respect for Human Rights. The
training is a planned process to help
personnel acquire new competencies
and to fine-tune the existing ones. The
training aims at improving managerial
competence, strategic competence,
role effectiveness, responsiveness and
leadership.
The services rendered by the CoBRA,
Rapid Action Force and Mahila
components of the CRPF on various
occasions, including the IPKF operations
in Srilanka, natural calamities,
communal situations and while dealing
with insurgency, terrorism, extremism,
has been appreciated and commended
by the concerned authorities and the
people.
The CRPF personnel have also brought
glory to the nation in international
sports meets and also as part of the
India’s contingents in the UN Peace
Keeping Forces in many disturbed parts
of the world.
FUTURE
To make this Force more effective and
raise the morale, a lot needs to be done
in the area of housing and rationalizing
the deployment of personnel so that
they are enabled to spend more time
with their families or at least function as
close to their home towns as possible.
Constantly living up to the motto
“Service and Loyalty”, this force has
come to be regarded as the most
dependable internal security force of
the nation.
I will always cherish the many years
that I had spent with this great Force,
which also gave me the opportunity
to understand and appreciate the
complexities and problems in various
parts of our country.
To sum up, I can say without any fear of
contradiction that the CRPF is a Multidimensional
Force for all occasions
and situations. It is a Model Force. This
largest para-military force in the world
today, is an Asset to the Nation.
