According to Patrick J. Montana and<br />

Bruce H. Charnov, the ability to attain<br />

these unique powers is what enables<br />

leadership to influence subordinates<br />

and peers by controlling organizational<br />

resources. The successful leader<br />

effectively uses these powers to<br />

influence his men, and it is important<br />

for leaders to understand the uses of<br />

power to strengthen their leadership.<br />

Various types of organizational power:<br />

• Legitimate Power refers to the<br />

different types of professional<br />

positions within an organization<br />

structure that inherit such power<br />

(e.g. Commandant, DIG, Director/<br />

IGP etc.).<br />

• Reward Power is the power<br />

given to officers that attain
