New Hampshire Electric Cooperative is mandating new wireless electric “Smart Meters” installed on all member
residences in their district. Smart Meters and their electromagnetic fields increase the radiation levels in and around
our homes and environments. A large body of scientific evidence indicates that this type of radiation disrupts human
health and development. It also impacts plant life and animals.
The use of wireless meters on homes is an untested use of wireless technology. The meters have not been tested,
and therefore are not UL certified, and unsafe. Other problems that are of concern include higher electrical cost
based on measured peak time use, security, privacy, and reliability issued potentially leading to blackouts.
In light of the above health and safety issues, we are requesting a choice as to the type of meter installed on our
homes: the wireless smart meter or a hard-wired analog/digital meter within a NHEC opt out program.
