2012 Town Meeting Deliberative Session
ARTICLE 3
To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of Twelve Million, Two Hundred Sixty
Three, Five Hundred Seventy One Dollars ($ 12,263,571) for the necessary operational expenses of the
Town for the ensuing year’s budget. This amount does not include all of the amounts raised and
appropriated in subsequent warrant articles.
(Recommended by the Board of Selectmen 4 - 0)
Peter Brothers motioned to approve Article 3 as proposed, seconded by Miller Lovett.
David Sticht asked about the School Facilities Maintenance Fund and why is this account never used. It
was explained that the Town holds this for the School and we do not control it. Lou Kahn, explained that
this fund is required of the School District to “park” it with the Trustee of Trust funds and does not get
appropriated.
With a show of Voter Cards, Article 3 passed.
ARTICLE 4
To see if the Town will vote to designate New Road in the Chemung area of the Town of Meredith
as a Scenic Road under the authority of RSA 231:157. New Road is located within the Town of Meredith.
(Petitioned by 10 or more Registered Voters or abutters)
Miller Lovett motioned to approve Article 4 as proposed, seconded by Nate Torr.
Philip Warren explained that this should have been included in the original designation many years ago
and this was brought forth to have this included. John Rogers reiterated what Phil Watten stated and
supports this Article.
With a show of voter cards Article 4 passed
ARTICLE 5
To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate the sum of Sixty Thousand Dollars ($60,000)
to improve various town roads that are eligible for 2 to 1 matching funds from the State Aid
Reconstruction Program, contingent upon the receipt of Forty Thousand Dollars ($40,000) of that amount
from the State, with the balance of Twenty Thousand Dollars ($20,000) to be raised by taxation.
(Recommended by the Board of Selectmen 4 - 0)
Nate Torr motioned to approve Article 5 as proposed, seconded by Herb Vadney.
With a show of voter cards, Article 5 passed.
