50th Anniversary 1958 Les Paul
1958 was a pivotal year for Gibson. The Explorer, Flying V, and
ES-335 all first saw the light of day, as did the first non-Goldtop Les Paul,
which is what this limited run Paul commemorates. Limited to just
200 instrument worldwide, the 50th Anniversary 1958 Les Paul
celebrates the birth of the Les Paul Standard, arguably the most popular
Les Paul ever built. This beauty is constructed from a mahogany back
with a carved, figured maple top sporting a washed cherry Murphyaged
finish and single-ply cream binding. The long tenon mahogany
neck is crowned with a rosewood fingerboard and sports a
period-appropriate 1950s neck profile. Vintage tulip tuners
reside in the holly veneer headstock, with trapezoid neck inlays
and ABR-1 bridge and aluminum tailpiece rounding out the
physical features. Electronically, this Les Paul is loaded with
Burstbucker 1 and 2 pickups and CTS pots with bumblebee
capacitors.

1959 Les Paul

The only significant change made to the Les Paul in 1959 was
the addition of wider, fatter frets, making it easier to bend notes.
The ‘59 is heard on countless tracks and helped cement the Les Paul as the guitar for
serious rock players. As part of Gibson’s Vintage Original Spec series, the ‘59 Standard
features a mahogany body, carved figured maple top, ’59 profile neck, vintage tulip
tuners, rosewood fingerboard with acrylic trapezoid inlays, two BurstBucker pickups, CTS
