In the ’50s, Eddie Cochrane and Chet Atkins shaped the sound of pop music with Gretsch guitars. In the
’60s, Gretsch defined the sound of The Who’s rock opera, Tommy. The Beatles used them, and so did
Jimmy Page, Stephen Stills, Brian Setzer, and everyone from Aerosmith to Billy Zoom. In fact, Gretsch guitars are what gave
Bono his “Edge.” In 1967 the Gretsch Company was sold, and without the family dedication that had driven the business for so
many years, the company began to drift. In 1985, Fred Gretsch III took back his grandfather’s legacy with a little help from his
friends, and has brought back the great Gretsch sound in all its glory with reissues of the finest classic Gretsch guitars.

Brian Setzer Tribute
This is no ordinary “artist signature” tribute guitar — this one’s
true to the original, right down to the last detail. Gretsch introduces
the Custom Shop Limited Edition Brian Setzer Tribute, a
painstaking recreation of the ‘59 6120 Setzer used during the heyday
of the Stray Cats. It could be argued that Setzer was responsible for
bringing Gretsch back into the public eye when the Stray Cats first hit
the airwaves in the ‘80s, and he’s been rockin’, rollin’, and swingin’
with Gretsch ever since. In honor of Setzer’s original instrument,
only 59 of these amazing tribute guitars are being offered. This
single-cutaway hollowbody features a laminated maple top
and body, hard rock maple neck, two TV Jones ® Classic
pickups, an ebony fingerboard with thumbnail fret
markers, and a Bigsby tremolo. Believe it or not, every
sticker and scratch you’d see on Setzer’s original can be
found here — even the wear marks are recreated. And
the hole that used to house a tone switch on Setzer’s
6120? It’s here, too. The Custom Shop Limited Edition
Brian Setzer Tribute comes complete with a ton of
extras, including a deluxe Relic® cowboy case,

Anniversary
This classic single-cutaway hollowbody was
originally issued in 1958 to commemorate
the 75th anniversary of Gretsch. The
Anniversary features a laminated maple body, which
is loaded with a pair of TV Jones Classic pickups, an ebony
fingerboard, and a Bigsby B6 vibrato tailpiece (among other “features
of the future,” as they were touted when this guitar was originally advertised). The
Gretsch Anniversary is a very cool axe with a vintage vibe and truly timeless tone that
will appeal to guitarists of any style or genre.

Hollow Body
Chet Atkins was a country legend whose unique
playing style was often imitated, but never
duplicated. Nicknamed “Mr. Guitar,” Chet was almost as famous for his work with
Gretsch designing guitars . The Chet Atkins Hollow Body is a throwback to the classic
hollowbody guitars Chet made famous in the ‘50s and ‘60s. The flame maple top, back,
and sides lend a more modern vibe to this legendary guitar, while the High Sensitive
Filter’Tron pickups and Bigsby B6 tailpiece provide the classic “twang” that made
Gretsch a favorite of country and rockabilly players.

According to Beatle George Harrison, decent

in the early days. The Duo Jet was his first good guitar, one
he kept throughout his life and used on many Beatles recordings.

Tennessee Rose
Probably best known as a favored axe of the quiet Beatle —
who had quite a collection of Gretsch guitars — the Chet Atkins
Tennessee Rose is a hollowbody guitar with laminated maple back and sides, a
rosewood fingerboard, and simulated “f”-holes. The body is a thinline style, and gives
you the early ‘60s pop tone of a certain group of lads from Liverpool.
