EDB550
Talk about comfortable! The EDB550 represents the
evolution of a bass lineup that’s amazingly balanced and
offers the kind of little details players appreciate. The
original Ibanez Ergodyne EDB basses were constructed
from man-made materials — at the time, the
technology just didn’t exist to manufacture affordable
wood versions in such 3-dimensional ergonomical
shapes. Now, the technology has caught up with the
concept, and the EDB550 is ready for some serious
playing action. Its light ash body joins a slim, ultra-fast
wenge/bubinga neck (with rosewood fretboard),
providing great tone and sustain while keeping
the weight down. Mounted in the EDB550’s
innovative body, two Duncan/Ibanez pickups
provide plenty of rich, expressive tone. Added
tone-shaping capability comes courtesy of an
onboard EQ. Form definitely follows function
in the EDB550’s All Access neck joint and deep
cutaways (giving you easy access to the entire
fretboard), sculpted body, and uncluttered
controls. This bass is obviously designed
around the task at hand, rather than
simply being beautiful for beauty’s sake.
