Begin with a bumboat ride from Clarke Quay down the Singapore River. Bumboats are hardy vessels once used
to shuttle cargo, but today the ride steers us through a kaleidoscope of Singapore’s historic river and harbor
images set against the towering skyline of the modern business district and hotel city. Back on land, visit the
Asian Civilizations Museum. This restored building’s classical façade belies the modern technologies within,
where exciting multimedia programs shed light on the extensive collection of priceless artefacts, helping visitors
connect the past to the present. Our journey continues to the newly restored Singapore National Museum, where
the exhibits trace Singapore’s heritage and offer insight into the rich cultures of Southeast Asia. The Singapore
Art Museum is our final destination. Transformed from a 19 th -century mission school to a dynamic institution of
multi-cultural modern art, the Singapore Art Museum’s state-of-the-art galleries feature paintings, sculptures and
installations drawn from its 400-strong permanent collection of Southeast Asian modern and contemporary art as
well as from touring ―blockbuster‖ shows like Masterpieces from the Guggenheim Museum and Leonardo da
