SNG17 SERVICE VISIT: CHILDREN’S HOME (0900-1230 Monday, 01 November) Minimum<br />

Chen Su Lan Methodist Children’s Home was established in July 1968 by the Wesley Methodist Church. It<br />
provides loving Christian care and welfare for needy and disadvantaged children, as well as children with special<br />
needs, <strong>of</strong> all races and religions. The facility includes a residential home, child care center and student care<br />
center. The Chen Su Lan Methodist Children’s Home aims to develop the spiritual, educational, social and<br />
emotional well-being <strong>of</strong> the children; assist the parents in problem-solving and coping with their children’s<br />
various difficulties; and provide community services that strengthen family relationships and enhance the quality<br />
<strong>of</strong> family life. You may bring toys or gifts for the children, and a small donation to the Chen Su Lan Methodist<br />
Children’s Home is included in the price <strong>of</strong> this practicum.<br />
SNG18 LIFE SCIENCE WORKSHOP AT ORCHIDVILLE WITH LUNCH (0830-1330 Monday, 01<br />

Orchidville, the largest and leading orchid farm in Singapore, features lush, beautiful landscapes <strong>of</strong> sprawling<br />
orchids, fresh air pavilions, a café and restaurant, tissue culture laboratories, and indoor and outdoor classrooms.<br />
The farm <strong>of</strong>fers visitors a unique opportunity to see and learn a whole range <strong>of</strong> activities related to the agricultural<br />
sector with its primary focus on building an expanded knowledge base by allowing the general public to<br />
experience and develop an appreciation <strong>of</strong> Mother Nature. This includes the observation <strong>of</strong> unique plant life in a<br />
natural habitat as well as learning more about cultivating orchids and other life sciences. During this workshop,<br />
participants will create their own orchid hybrids; explore Orchidville’s conservation program on Nepenthes, the<br />
tropical carnivorous plant; or learn more about aquatic plants or insect-eating plants.<br />
