How would you describe
Metropolitan
Theatres’ culture, and
how do you teach that
culture to others?
Our company’s culture is one of
innovation and the incorporation
of the newest technologies. One
of the most exciting times for me
has been our digital conversion,
which reenergized the company.
By involving the staff in learning
these upgrades, it gives them
ownership and incentives to continue
to improve their skills.
You’ve probably been a
manager and a mentor
to hundreds of employees.
Do you feel that
employees today are
different from when
you started your career?
While there are generational
differences, employees today have
the same core needs as when I
started. They want to be paid
fairly, they want to feel like they
can make a difference and to have
What’s your favorite movie
and why?
The Empire Strikes Back created a feeling
that I was there and not just watching
a movie. I relived parts of the movie for
years afterwards.
opportunities for advancement
and learning. Most of all, they
want to be treated with respect
and dignity.
What’s an unexpected
lesson from your long
tenure at Metropolitan?
Movie stars tend to be shorter
in real life than they look on the
screen.
What’s your favorite
concession-stand
snack?
Popcorn, even after 40 years.
Where do you sit in a
movie theater?
In the back, so I can watch our
patrons’ response to the movie and
enjoy feeling their energy.
What do you think of
being named Metropolitan
Theatres’ Secret
Weapon?
It is always an honor to be considered
an asset to the company.
