«ProfIC 6 – Cation» – Professional IC system with<br />
inline dilution and ultrafiltration<br />
Professional IC system for the fully automatic determination<br />
of cations or anions (non-suppressed) present<br />
in very high concentrations and whose matrix contains<br />
particles. «ProfIC 6» works with Metrohm inline dilution<br />
and ultrafiltration. With this system it is possible<br />
to eliminate bacteria or inorganic particles from the<br />
sample and then dilute it so far that it can be analyzed.<br />
Automatic inline dilution of the sample takes place at<br />
an external position of the 858 Professional Sample<br />
Processor. The 800 Dosino carries out the high-precision<br />
liquid handling steps in combination with an<br />
transfer tubing.<br />
The MagIC Net software controls the dilution steps<br />
and carries out all calculations, so that only the dilution<br />
factor needs to be entered in the sample table. In<br />
addition, the software provides for intelligent dilution,<br />
i.e. dilution takes place automatically depending on the<br />
predefined concentration limits. The software monitors<br />
all intelligent system components from the iColumn to<br />
the iDetector.<br />
The Metrohm inline ultrafiltration included in «ProfIC 6»<br />
reliably removes particles from the sample and in this<br />
way effectively protects the analytical column significantly<br />
increasing its lifetime. The ultrafiltration cell is<br />
equipped with a membrane filter with a pore size of<br />
0.15 µm as standard and is suitable for samples with<br />
a light to medium particle load. Inline ultrafiltration<br />
works fully automatically and in this way, for example,<br />
saves the time-consuming and expensive use of syringe<br />
filters.<br />
