Alternative Detectors – Introduction<br />
Ion chromatography has established itself in laboratories<br />
as a powerful and flexible analytical method. Conductivity<br />
is used as the classical IC detection method<br />
solving most application problems. Combining it with<br />
alternative detection methods the range of analytes as<br />
well as the sensitivity and selectivity can be increased<br />
even further. Such detectors, for example UV/VIS or<br />
electrochemical, may be used either as stand-allone<br />
solutions or in combination with a condcutivity<br />
detector. Moreover, Inline Sample Preparation as well<br />
as post column reaction systems can be applied.<br />
IC-MS as well as IC-ICP-MS are especially useful<br />
for speciation of anions and cations. In this field of so<br />
called hyphenated techniques Metrohm cooperates<br />
with Agilent. Please check with your local Metrohm<br />
