PRAC 282 Advanced Practicum<br />
This practicum entails the completion of an<br />
additional year of classroom experience in a<br />
Second Language program. It serves to field<br />
test original instructional activity. Presentation<br />
of resulting methods and materials to other<br />
Native Language instructors is required,<br />
along with an evaluation of the application<br />
of Advanced Second Language Teaching<br />
Methods 252.<br />
PRO 161 Professionalism and Class<br />
Management<br />
This course examines professional issues<br />
relating to primary level language instruction<br />
such as classroom management, discipline<br />
techniques, staff relations and student record<br />
keeping. Field work includes completing<br />
day-book records and student attendance and<br />
progress records.<br />
PRO 162 Professionalism and Class<br />
Management<br />
This course examines professional issues<br />
relating to intermediate level language<br />
instruction such as classroom management,<br />
motivation and discipline at the intermediate<br />
level, staff and community relations and<br />
classroom record keeping. Field work includes<br />
completing day-book records and student<br />
attendance and progress records.<br />
PRO 163 Professionalism and Class<br />
Management<br />
This course examines motivation and<br />
discipline in the elementary classroom,<br />
professional approaches to problem solving<br />
in staff and community relations, making<br />
use of school and community resources<br />
and analyzing student progress for selfevaluation.<br />
Field work includes completing<br />
day-book records, long-range plans and<br />
student attendance and progress records.<br />
SLTM 151 Second Language Teaching<br />
Methods<br />
This course introduces the basics of second<br />
language instruction. Topics include: use<br />
of the curriculum guide, short-range<br />
lesson planning, basic drill methods,<br />
practice in teaching basic vocabulary in<br />
simple sentence structures to primary level<br />
students, language activities for primary<br />
level instruction, oral testing techniques and<br />
materials production.<br />
SLTM 152 Second Language Teaching<br />
Methods<br />
This course provides practice in the<br />
basics of second language instruction.<br />
Topics include: introduction to grade level<br />
adaptation of curriculum material, lesson<br />
planning for the intermediate level, language<br />
activities for intermediate level instruction,<br />
oral testing techniques and materials<br />

SLTM 153 Second Language Teaching<br />
Methods<br />
This course offers practice in the basics of<br />
second language instruction at the primary<br />
and intermediate level. Topics include longrange<br />
planning and grade-level adaptation<br />
of curriculum material, teaching listening<br />
skills, introducing dialogue activities and<br />
development of new activities and materials<br />
for elementary language instruction.<br />

SLTM 251 Advanced Second Language<br />
Methods<br />
This course focuses on extending the<br />
student’s knowledge of second language<br />
teaching methods. Building on knowledge<br />
and practice gained during certificate training<br />
course, SLTM 251 will consider such topics<br />
as adaptation of curriculum material for<br />
high school and adult level instruction and<br />
producing original materials for second<br />
language instruction at any level.<br />
SLTM 252 Advanced Second Language<br />
Methods<br />
A continuation of SLTM 251, this course<br />
offers students further practice in advanced<br />
second language instruction. Areas of study<br />
include adaptation of curriculum material for<br />
high school and adult level instruction and<br />
development of an original activity for second<br />
language instruction at any level.<br />
