Program Overview<br />
The practicum portion of the Trades<br />
Exploration and Preparation for Women<br />
program is designed to provide safety<br />
education for a commercial/industrial<br />
setting as well as introduce students to<br />
several occupational areas within the<br />
Trades and Technology sector. The<br />
program is designed to aid students<br />
in the decision-making process to<br />
determine if a Trades and Technology<br />
career is suitable for them. The program<br />
also provides a foundation in the<br />
concepts of Mathematics and Science<br />
and a practicum as an introduction to<br />
the Trades. The applied approach to the<br />
delivery of this program material will<br />
provide an integration of mathematical<br />
and scientific concepts with the trades.<br />

General Outcomes<br />
Upon the completion of Trades<br />
Exploration and Preparation for<br />
Women Program, the student shall:<br />
• Demonstrate an awareness of a<br />
variety of trades.<br />
• Work effectively as a member of<br />
a team.<br />
• Handle equipment in a safe and<br />
effective manner with regard to<br />
their own safety and the safety of<br />
others.<br />
Graduation Requirements<br />
In order to graduate, students must<br />
successfully complete all courses in the<br />
program. Graduates of the program<br />
will receive a <strong>Yukon</strong> <strong>College</strong> certificate.<br />
