Another disorder, related to OCD, is OCPD (Obsessive-<br />

Compulsive Personality Disorder). This disorder can cause<br />

relationship difficulties and depression. Signs of OCPD are<br />

as follows:<br />

Perfectionism<br />

Inflexibility<br />

Preoccupation <strong>with</strong> details, rules, and lists<br />

Reluctance to allow others to do things<br />

Excessive devotion to work<br />

Restricted expression of affection<br />

Lack of generosity<br />

Inability to throw things away (e.g., “pack rat”)<br />

One of the reported differences between OCD and OCPD<br />

is that behaviors in OCD are for the purpose of bringing relief,<br />

whereas in OCPD, the person gains enjoyment from his<br />

or her behaviors.<br />

I see it. Now what?<br />

If you have witnessed any of these traits, there is a possibility<br />

that your loved one has OCD, which also extends to<br />

the possibility of <strong>ROCD</strong>. Behaviors that appear obsessional,<br />

impulsive, or compulsive can suggest OCD. Obsessions can<br />

be about anything.<br />
