DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION<br />

Three different types of vacuum<br />

boosters—diaphragm, piston, and tandem<br />

piston—are used either as standard<br />

or optional equipment with <strong>Ford</strong><br />

truck hydraulic brakes. A typical<br />

frame-mounted vacuum booster installation<br />

is shown in Fig. 1.<br />

Service information for only the<br />

vacuum boosters is given here. Adjustments<br />

and repairs for the hydraulic<br />

brake systems are given in<br />
