REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION<br />

BENDIX DIAPHRAGM-TYPE,<br />

DASH-MOUNTED BOOSTER—<br />

F-1OO AND 250<br />

REMOVAL<br />

1. Support the master cylinder<br />

with a prop from the underside.<br />

2. Remove the master cylinder-tobooster<br />

retaining nuts.<br />

3. Loosen the clamp that secures<br />

the manifold vacuum hose to the<br />

booster, and then remove the hose.<br />

4. Pull the master cylinder off the<br />

booster and leave it supported by the<br />

prop far enough away to allow removal<br />

of the booster assembly.<br />

5. From inside the cab, remove<br />

the attaching bolt, nut and plastic<br />

bushings and disconnect the valve<br />

rod from the brake pedal. Remove<br />

the nuts that retain the booster<br />

mounting bracket to the dash panel.<br />

6. Remove the booster assembly<br />

from the engine <strong>com</strong>partment.<br />

INSTALLATION<br />

1. Mount the booster and bracket<br />

assembly to the engine side of the<br />

dash panel by sliding the bracket<br />

mounting bolts and valve operating<br />

rod in through the holes in the dash<br />

panel.<br />

2. From inside the cab, install the<br />

booster mounting bracket-to-dash<br />

panel retaining nuts.<br />

3. Position the master cylinder to<br />

the booster assembly, install the retaining<br />

nuts and remove the prop<br />

from underneath the master cylinder.<br />

4. Connect the manifold vacuum<br />

hose to the booster and secure with<br />

the clamp.<br />

5. From inside the cab connect the<br />

booster valve operating rod to the<br />

brake pedal with the attaching bolt,<br />

nut and plastic bushings.<br />

6. Start the engine and check the<br />

operation of the brake system.<br />

BENDIX DIAPHRAGM-TYPE,<br />

FRAME-MOUNTED BOOSTER<br />

REMOVAL<br />

1. Depress the brake pedal several<br />

times to remove all vacuum from<br />

the system.<br />

2. Loosen the booster air inlet tube<br />

clamp, and remove the tube.<br />

3. Disconnect the hydraulic lines<br />

and vacuum hose from the booster.<br />

4. Remove the booster mounting<br />

bolts, and remove the booster from<br />

the bracket.<br />

INSTALLATION<br />

1. Position the booster on the<br />

mounting bracket. Then, install the<br />

mounting bolts using new lockwashers.<br />

2. Connect the hydraulic lines.<br />

Tighten the connections securely.<br />

3. Connect the air inlet tube to<br />

the booster. Tighten the hose clamp<br />

securely.<br />

4. Bleed the brake system as outlined<br />

under "Hydraulic System Bleeding,"<br />

Part 2-2.<br />

5. Connect the vacuum tube to<br />

booster hose to the booster. Tighten<br />

the hose clamps securely.<br />

6. Perform the checks and tests as<br />

outlined in Part 2-1.<br />

MIDLAND DIAPHRAGM-TYPE,<br />

DASH-MOUNTED BOOSTER<br />

REMOVAL<br />

1. Support the master cylinder<br />

with a prop from the underside.
