The eastern block had a pediment to it; a photograph of the house (Fig.
25) taken in the early nineteen 1960s 55 , clearly shows one, but it is
unknown if this was an original feature or added later, stylistically it
seems to fit very well. It was removed when the roof was replaced some
time in the mid 1970s 56
